Pair these tacos with a small batch of guacamole, single serving queso, and a skinny margarita for a complete meal. For dessert, try a mini tres leches cake.
Ingredients And Substitutions

- Ground Turkey: Lean and quick-cooking. Easily absorbs seasonings. Substitute with ground chicken or beef. Use leftovers in small batch turkey meatballs.
- Onions: Adds sweetness and depth to the filling. Try extras in lentil soup for one, single serving cottage pie, or mini sheet pan lasagna.
- Carrot: Adds sweetness and slight crunch. Swap with red bell pepper, zucchini, or any vegetable on hand. Extra carrots work well in a small pot roast, mini carrot cake, or single serving pork stir fry.
- Greens (Swiss Chard, Spinach, or Kale): Adds nutrients and earthiness. Use what you have—spinach, kale, or dandelion greens. Leftover greens can go in slow cooker chickpeas, single serving saag paneer, chicken tortellini soup for one, or a green smoothie
- Taco Seasoning: Adds classic taco flavor. Use store-bought or try our homemade taco seasoning to control the spice and sodium. You can also use your favorite seasoning blend.
- Tortillas: Use soft tortillas to wrap the filling. Store-bought or homemade tortillas both work. Extras can be used in buffalo cauliflower tacos for one and single serving baked black bean tacos.

- Low-Carb Tacos: Use Bibb lettuce or romaine leaves in place of tortillas for a fresh, gluten-free option.
- Mediterranean Tacos: Swap taco seasoning for oregano, lemon juice, and garlic powder. Serve in pita with feta, cucumbers, and homemade zatziki sauce.

Five stars for the spicing minus one for the turkey. Joanie, I have not used ground turkey in the past and I thought with beef getting more and more expensive I would give it a try. I made this recipe and I used the leftover spice mix to make a taco turkey burger. As usual your spice mixes are excellent but the turkey added absolutely zero to the mix. Unfortunately I bought 3 lb of it and I will use it up. I’ve got a batch of Turkey chili shimmering on the stove now, we’ll see.
Thank you so much for the kind words on the spice mix! Ground turkey is definitely less flavorful than ground beef, which can make it seem a bit bland by comparison. But with the right seasoningsโlike this taco spice mixโit can still be a great option. It sounds like youโre making the most of it with the chili. Sometimes, adding a little extra seasoning or a touch of oil can help enhance the taste in turkey dishes. Thanks again for trying the recipe, and I hope you enjoy the chili!
This was fantastic. I made the taco seasoning and it was terrific. Used 85% lean turkey and it stayed nice and moist
Good recipe.
Thank you!
