Ingredients
- Salmon Fillet: The main ingredient, known for its health benefits and rich flavor. If you’ve got an extra piece of salmon, consider using it in a Salmon Rice Bowl.
- Dijon Mustard: Adds a tangy depth.
- Maple Syrup: Provides natural sweetness. Consider using leftover maple syrup in Butter Pecan Granola, a mini French Toast Casserole, or a mini Sweet Potato Pie.
- Salt & Pepper: Enhances overall flavor.
Recipe Variations
- Herb Crusted Salmon: Before baking, coat your salmon with a blend of finely chopped herbs like dill, parsley, or basil. This creates a fragrant, herbaceous crust that complements the fish’s natural flavors beautifully.
- Spicy Glazed Salmon: For those who enjoy a bit of heat, mix a pinch of chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce into the maple-Dijon glaze. This variation adds a spicy twist that tantalizingly contrasts the sweetness of the glaze.
- Citrus Salmon: Enhance the glaze with a squeeze of fresh lemon or orange juice. The citrus notes bring a bright, zesty flavor that elevates the dish, making it refreshing and lively.
- Asian Salmon: Combine soy sauce and a touch of honey with the glaze for an Asian flair. This version offers a beautiful balance of savory and sweet, adding a unique depth to the salmon.
- Garlic and Ginger Salmon: For a more aromatic take, mince fresh garlic and ginger, mixing them into the glaze. This combination imbues the salmon with a warm, enticing aroma and a burst of flavor that’s both earthy and piquant.
How To Roast Salmon
- Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, blend the Dijon mustard and maple syrup together until smooth. This simple step creates a sweet and tangy glaze that will beautifully coat your salmon.
- Prep the Salmon: Lay the salmon fillet on a baking sheet lightly coated with oil to prevent sticking. Season the fillet evenly with salt and pepper. Then, drizzle the prepared maple-mustard glaze over the salmon, ensuring it’s well-covered for maximum flavor.
- Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the salmon in the oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes. The goal is a perfectly cooked salmon that’s moist and flaky inside with a deliciously glazed exterior.

I used sockeye salmon. This was amazing! Great flavor and so easy!
I love sockeye salmon! I’m so happy you enjoyed the recipe.
Great salmon but only get a hint of the glaze. Most of it ran off before I got it in the oven. What am I doing wrong?
Some of the glaze should melt into the salmon but some will also run off onto the pan. If you’d like a more intense flavor from the glaze, I would double the glaze ingredients.
Love the glaze! So glad to have found recipes for one for this empty nester!
Thank you, Julie.
