Ingredients

If you have any ingredients leftover from this small batch peanut butter balls recipe, check out our Leftover Ingredients Recipe Finder.

  • Peanut Butter: Use creamy, no-stir peanut butter for the best texture and consistency. If you have extra, try it in our Peanut Butter Cookies.
  • Honey: Adds natural sweetness that balances the peanut butter. We also use honey in our Rum Balls and Baked Oatmeal.
  • Powdered Milk (Instant Dry Milk Powder): We make our peanut butter balls with powdered milk because it helps bind the ingredients together while adding a subtle creaminess. It also keeps the texture smooth and prevents the mixture from being too sticky.

This recipe makes about 6 to 8 peanut butter balls, depending on their size.

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a bowl, combine peanut butter, honey, and powdered milk. A hand mixer helps create a smoother texture. The mixture may look crumbly at first but will hold together when shaped.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use natural peanut butter?

I prefer using no-stir regular peanut butter for the best texture, but natural peanut butter can work. If the mixture is too soft, add extra powdered milk to help firm it up.

How do I store peanut butter balls?

Keep your peanut butter balls fresh by storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’ll last for up to one week.

Can I freeze peanut butter balls?

Absolutely, these peanut butter balls freeze well. While this is a small batch recipe you might finish quickly, it can also be doubled. To freeze, place the balls in a sealed container. They’ll keep for up to three months in the freezer.

Can I dip peanut butter balls in chocolate?

Absolutely! Melt chocolate, dip the peanut butter balls, and let them set in the fridge for a firmer coating.

Can I add mix-ins like chocolate chips or nuts?

Yes! Mini chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut can add texture and flavor.

What can I use if I don’t have powdered milk

    1. Joanie Zisk says:

Powdered milk (also called nonfat dry milk) is a key ingredient to making peanut butter balls and is necessary in this recipe.

    2. Wendy says:

It has become in short supply since the beginning of the pandemic. Carnation and milkmaid both are brands out on the west coast. Wallmart also carries a generic.
