  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter -cold
  • 2 teaspoons ice water

For The Filling

  • 1 medium apple
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons granulated sugar
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch ground nutmeg
  • ½ tablespoon salted butter -cold & cut into small pieces
  • 1 small egg -beaten

Instructions 

Make The Crust

  • Heat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter with a fork until the mixture looks like wet sand.
  • Add water and stir until a dough forms.
  • Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
  • Place the chilled dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll into a 6-inch circle, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Transfer the dough (with bottom parchment) to a baking sheet and remove the top sheet.

Make the Filling

  • Peel, core, and thinly slice the apple. Spoon the slices into the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Fold the edges over the apples.
  • Drizzle honey over the apples.
  • In a small bowl, mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sprinkle over the apples and dot with butter.
  • Brush the crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon sugar.
