Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Easy Slow Cooker Recipe: Simply add the ingredients and let the mini slow cooker do the work.
  • Homemade Fall Flavor: Warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice make this apple butter rich and comforting.
  • Versatile Spread: Enjoy on toast, biscuits, or pancakes.
  • Perfectly Portioned: This small batch recipe makes just enough apple butter without overwhelming you with leftovers.

Apple butter isn’t really butter at all. It’s apples cooked low and slow with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice until they become thick, smooth, and full of flavor.

I love the way it turns into a silky spread that feels comforting and versatile. Whether I spread it on warm toast, swirl it into oatmeal, or sneak a spoonful straight from the jar, it always brings the taste of fall into my kitchen.

This is delicious! I used one large-ish pink lady and four little granny smith apples (before peeling and coring, it all came to about 1.7 pounds), and doubled the cinnamon (I almost always double cinnamon in recipes). I have a feeling this will become a fall favorite!

  7. Janette Sinclair says:

Apples – is that 1 1/2 lbs of apples before or after peeling and coring? Thank you.

  8. Janet says:

The apple butter sounds delicious. Can I make it on the stove

    1. Joanie Zisk says:

Yes, you can make apple butter on the stove too. Add all of the ingredients to a medium-sized pot and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the apples are soft and are beginning to fall apart. This usually takes me around an hour. Once the apples are soft, you can puree them.

  9. Marda L. says:

do you have any idea of approximately how much this makes.

    1. Joanie Zisk says:

      Hi Marda,
