This single serving Salisbury Steak is made with a seasoned ground beef patty, seared and simmered in a rich mushroom and onion gravy. It’s a flavorful, comforting dish that comes together easily in one pan.
In a bowl, combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, mustard powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into a 1/2-inch thick patty.
Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the patty and cook for about 4 minutes per side, until fully cooked. Transfer to a plate, cover with foil, and set aside.
Make the Gravy
Reduce the heat to medium-low. In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add onions and cook for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add mushrooms and cook for another 3 minutes until softened.
Stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes.
Stir in the sour cream. Return the patty to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, spooning the sauce over the top.
Transfer the patty to a plate, pour the gravy over, and serve.
Notes
Season Generously: Proper seasoning brings out the best flavor in the beef.
Preheat the Pan: A hot skillet helps create a flavorful crust on the patty.
Thicken the Gravy: Let the gravy simmer a little longer if you prefer a thicker consistency.
