- 1 14.5-ounce canned whole tomatoes
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic , minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons honey , or more to taste
Begin by pouring the can of tomatoes with juices in a blender and pulse to form a coarse purée.
Heat the oil in a medium-sized saucepan set to medium-high heat. Cook minced garlic until it begins to brown, 1-2 minutes.
Add in the tomato purée and season with the dried basil, salt, and pepper.
Stir in the honey.
Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until slightly thickened.
