Equipment

  • 5-inch baking dish

Ingredients

  • cup medium-grain or long-grain brown rice
  • cup water
  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Place the rice in a small 5-inch baking dish or dish of similar size.
  • Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan or tea kettle.
  • Pour boiling water over the rice and add the butter and salt.
  • Gently stir to combine and cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  • Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 45 minutes.
  • After 45 minutes, remove the cover and fluff the rice with a fork.
  • Serve.
