This is the best Juicy Lucy Burger recipe! A burger stuffed with cheese and "baked" in the oven. While the burger bakes, the cheese melts making the patty very juicy. This easy to make recipe is inspired by the famous Juicy Lucy burger, originating in Minneapolis.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with the seasoning.
Split the seasoned ground beef into two equal portions and form them into balls.
Press each ball into a thin, flat patty.
Cut the cheese into small squares and lay them on the center of one patty.
Place the second patty on top of the cheese-topped first patty.
Seal the patties together by pressing down the edges with your fingers, enclosing the cheese inside.
Place the burger into a small, lightly greased baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove the Juicy Lucy from the oven, cover and let it rest for five minutes.
Serve on a bun with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Work with ground beef that is cold from the refrigerator, as it's simpler to shape into a patty.
Slice the cheese into four equal parts and arrange them in an overlapping circular pattern on the center of the patty. Leave a border of about 1/2 inch around the edges to prevent cheese leakage.
Securely seal the edges of the burger to ensure the cheese stays inside while it bakes.
Avoid pressing down on the burger during baking; this can release its juices and might cause the cheese to leak out.
