Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Place white rice (not instant rice) in a oven safe ramekin or small baking dish. Add the butter and salt.
Pour in hot water.
Stir and then cover the baking dish with foil. Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes until water is absorbed and rice is tender.
Notes
Measure the rice and liquid precisely.
Always use boiling water.
Choose a baking dish that can accommodate the rice's expansion – typically, a
5x5 inch
or a 4x6 inch oven-safe dish works well.
Tightly cover the dish with foil to keep moisture in.
If the rice is still firm and there's liquid left, bake it for an additional 5-10 minutes.
After baking, let the rice rest for 5-10 minutes before fluffing it with a fork.
